The La Salette Retreat Center and Fr. Ronald Rolheiser, OMI

By clicking on the title of this post, you will be taken to the official website for the La Salette Center for Christian Living. It is at this website that you will find retreats offering New Age Reiki and Yoga as well as this endorsement of a book written by Fr. Ronald Rolheiser, OMI, a well-known dissident from Catholic teaching:

Highly Recommended Reading

The Restless heart
Finding Our Spiritual Home in Times of Loneliness
by Ronald Rolheiser
Doubleday, 2004

Here is another highly recommended book by Ronald Rolheiser, author of the holy longing. I have enjoyed this book tremendously for my own spiritual life. I have also recommended it to many of the people I see in spiritual direction.

Rolheiser begins by reminding us that “to be human is to be lonely.” No one is immune. We all long for and desire something (Someone) greater than ourselves, and we will be lonely until we attain this goal of our life - God - and our complete union in love with God.

Rolheiser divides his book in two parts. In the first part he shares with us thoughts on the problem and dangers, as well as the types of loneliness. In the second part, he helps us reflect on the positive side of loneliness: what the Scriptures say about it and how some Christian theologians view loneliness. Finally Rolheiser helps us to see the potential value of it, and he guides us toward a spirituality of loneliness.

Because we are all lonely to some degree, we can all benefit greatly from this book. It afforded me several hours of reading enjoyment and enlightenment. May it be a similar gift to you.

Fr. Fern Cassista, M.S.

Our Lady's Warriors, an excellent Catholic website which exposes various dissidents within the Catholic Church, has information on this renegade priest at: http://www.ourladyswarriors.org/rolheiser.htm

It is disheartening to see that the lasalettes are busy promoting so much dissent through their retreat center in massachusetts. The lasalettes used to be a great community. It really is a moral tragedy.
