State Representative Maurice Pilotte and Emergency Contraception

On March 9, 2006, State Representative Maurice Pilotte - who attends Blessed Sacrament Parish in Manchester, New Hampshire - voted nay on HB 1492 which would have granted immunity from liability to pharmacists who refuse to dispense an emergency contraceptive pill without a prescription.

On March 21, 2006, Mr. Pilotte voted nay on HB 1682 relative to parental notification of a parent or legal guardian of a child who has been provided with emergency contraception by a pharmacist.

This is a source of scandal to faithful Catholics.

So Pilotte doesn't think parents should be notified when their underage daughter gets abortifacient drugs? Disturbing.

Representative Pilotte was also a supporter of radical pro-abortion Senator Joseph Lieberman when he ran for President. So-called "emergency contraception" drugs are abortifacient drugs. For Representative Pilotte to take the stand he has is bad enough. But the fact that the Diocese of Manchester permits a culture of death politician to receive Holy Communion is worse.

    What gives?

The U.S. Bishops have been very clear in explaining the fundamental importance of being a pro-life people. Pope John Paul II's encyclical letter Evangelium Vitae couldn't have been any clearer either.

I plan on offering a novena about this. I will pray especially that the diocese takes action.
