Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, Archbishop of Washington D.C., says he supports same-sex civil unions on CNN

"Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,140 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."141 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2357).

Under no circumstances may homosexual acts be approved. On what basis then does the Cardinal support same-sex "civil unions"?

Paul

On the basis of apostasy apparently. First Cardinal Martini told us that the use of condoms is acceptable and noe Cardinal McCarrick is telling us that same-sex civil unions should be allowed.

Is this the New Evangelization? Is this the civilization of love we are all waiting for?

There is virtual silence in Manchester regarding the sin of homosexuality. Likewise, my pastor has never said anything about the blasphemy of the film The Da Vinci Code. I never hear a sermon on the evil of abortion and contraception either.

I think many priests have lost their faith and this is why many of them remain silent.
