"We judge that the Apparition of the Blessed Virgin to two cowherds, on the 19th of September, 1846, on a mountain of the chain of the Alps, situated in the parish of La Salette, in the arch-presbytery of Corps, bears within itself all the characteristics of truth, and the faithful have grounds for believing it indubitable and certain."
"We believe that this fact acquires a new degree of certitude from the immense and spontaneous concourse of the faithful on the place of the Apparition, as well as from the multitude of prodigies which have been the consequence of the said event, a very great number of which it is impossible to call in doubt without violating the rules of human testimony."

Paul...the Cure was a real martyr of the confessional. I never knew that he issued that prophecy about Our Lady of La Salette though. That is so powerful. That the patron saint of parish priests who was so devoted to hearing confessions (the Sacrament of Reconciliation) would say such a thing seems very significant. There is obviously a mystical link there.
ReplyDeleteThe saintly Cure of Ars was prophesying a return to penance, a return of mankind to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Our Lady of La Salette had said, "If I would not have my Son abandon you, I am compelled to pray to Him without ceasing."
ReplyDeleteDo we stop to consider the gravity of those words? For how long does Our Sorrowful Mother have to shed tears for us? When will men finally understand that without a return to prayer and penance [reconciliation], there will never be peace on earth, no peace between God and man, no peace within so many families, no peace between nations.
Our Lord has told us that without Him, we can do nothing. But in our stubborn pride, we believe otherwise. And so, peace eludes us.
But I stand with St. Jean Vianney Michelle (and in doing so I'm on solid ground since there has never been a holier priest than the patron of parish priests). One day, Our Lady of La Salette will lead all peoples back to reconciliation with God. And when her Immaculate Heart does triumph, the world will burst into flower.
