The Prophecy of St. Nilus, who lived around 400 AD:
"After the year 1900, toward the middle of the 20th century, the people of that time will become unrecognizable. When the time for the Advent of the Antichrist approaches, people's minds will grow cloudy from carnal passions, and dishonor and lawlessness will grow stronger. Then the world will become unrecognizable. People's appearances will change, and it will be impossible to distinguish men from women due to their shamelessness in dress and style of hair. These people will be cruel and will be like wild animals because of the temptations of the Antichrist. There will be no respect for parents and elders, love will disappear, and Christian pastors, bishops, and priests will become vain men, completely failing to distinguish the right-hand way from the left. At that time the morals and traditions of Christians and of the Church will change. People will abandon modesty, and dissipation will reign. Falsehood and greed will attain great proportions, and woe to those who pile up treasures. Lust, adultery, homosexuality, secret deeds and murder will rule in society."
All too many who call themselves Catholic have a pollyanna view of our present time and refuse to acknowledge the reality of Satan and his presence in our "modern" world. Many mistakingly believe, because of the influence of Pere Teilhard de Chardin, S.J., and other confused souls, that we are on some sort of evolutionary journey which will end in unparalled progress for man. How one reconciles this belief with, say, No. 675 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church is anyone's guess. The history of man is testament to the Devil's influence in this world.
ReplyDeleteSaint Maximilian Kolbe, in a meditation given March 3, 1938, said that: "A soul given to the Immaculata cannot be hurt by the devil. But even if he should fall, he will rise quickly and his fall will become a rung on his ladder to sanctity."
And again:
"Modern times are dominated by Satan and will be more so in the future. The conflict with hell cannot be engaged by men, even the most clever. The Immaculate One alone has from God the promise of victory over Satan. However, assumed into heaven, the Mother of God now requires our cooperation. She seeks souls who will consecrate themselves entirely to her, who will become in her hands effective instruments for the defeat of Satan and the spreading of God's kingdom upon earth."
Reflect very carefully upon those words: "Modern times are dominated by Satan and will be more so in the future."
Do we dare approach the spiritual battle without Our Lady's protection and her maternal intercession?
