This is Joe Sacerdo speaking...
I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth; banks are going bust; shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter; punks are running wild in the street, dissent and homosexuality have infected certain segments of the Church and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it.
We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, that our local church is infected with modernism. And we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be!
We all know things are bad -- worse than bad -- they're crazy. When an Archdiocese honors a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual mayor, things are crazy!
It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, "Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials, and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone. Just let us pray quietly in church and leave us alone."
Well, I'm not going to leave you alone.
I want you to get mad!
I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot. I don't want you to write to your Congressman, because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Koreans, the Lavender Mafia, liturgical terrorists, wiccan nuns, Call to Action and the crime in the street.
All I know is that first, you've got to get mad.
You've gotta say, "I'm a human being, goshdarnit! My life has value! And the teaching of the Magisterium must be adhered to, we must listen to the Lord Jesus!
So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell,
"I'm as mad as hell,
and I'm not going to take this anymore!!"
" was a groundbreaking and prophetic(if a bit profane) film. Hard to believe it came out in the 70's.We are living that dialogue now.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to watch the "boardroom scene" from "Network" on YouTube. It's an eyeopener. Warning, may contain offensive language.
I've had it with Sister Snakebite and Father Flapdoodle....I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!
ReplyDeleteNetwork is one of my favorite films. I have long been a fan of Peter Finch. And the film is very prophetic. David, well said!
ReplyDeleteI'm as mad as Hell and I'm not going to take this anymore! I'm tired of angry feminist female religious, homosexual and effeminate priests, dissent from the Church's authentic teaching - particularly in the area of sexual morality, priests engaged in active homosexual relationships, cronyism and nepotism, financial fiascos and outright theft of Church monies by priests like the ones in Fitchburg (former pastor of Immaculate Conception) and the priest in Connecticut who stole 1.3 million and spent it on lavish hotels, expensive clothing and male prostitutes. I'm tired of boring homilies, banal liturgies and apathetic and lukewarm priests. I'm mad as Hell and I say enough madness!
ReplyDeleteThe Church has been so effeminized since the 1960s (and some would argue that this effeminization began even earlier) that a spirit of ambiguity has set in. Truth and clarity are no longer in style in certain corners of the Church. Leon Podles writes, "The contrasts of Christianity, grace and sin, life and death, have been toned down with a considerable loss of emotional power. Without this power, the popular appeal of the liturgy has declined (even with a more accessible language) and church attendance has plummeted...If the feminization of the Church continues, men will continue to seek their spiritual sustenance outside the churches, in false or inadequate religions [or in the camraderie sports, my note], with highly damaging consequences for the Church and society. The inner life of the Church will also be weakened. The Scriptures and the writings of the Fathers will become more and more incomprehensible, and will be rewritten or ignored. Central Christian doctrines, such as the Trinity and the Atonement, are under severe attack, and may vanish from the popular consciousness of Christians, to be replaced by a self-worship that cloaks itself in Christian language.." (The Church Impotent: The Feminization of Christianity, pp. 134, 137-138).
ReplyDeleteIs there really any doubt that the Cult of Softness - the Cult of Effeminacy - has made huge inroads into the Church? Which is why, as Walter Ong says, "The preferred model of church life is irenic, or conciliatory, or waffling; clarity is declasse.."
The Cult of Softness is rotting the Church from within. Homosexual and effeminate clerics are undermining the Church both directly and indirectly and cannot provide that solid and stable model for young men which is the source of authentic vocations.
What we need is an authentic reform movement which doesn't view masculinity as a disease. We have catered to the Cult of Softness long enough; we have heard enough about the dignity and rights of the homosexual person - let's hear about the rights of God which should be considered paramount by all - especially those who profess to be Christian!
What ... do you mean the Knights of Columbus aren't real men? But don't they carry swords and wear silly outfits and stand in churches tall and proud?
ReplyDeleteWhat ... you want them to stand up for life? But don't they raise money and sell tootsie rolls? Isn't that standing up for life?
Aren't they against same sex couples? Oh ... they are the ones who vote for "same-sex marriage" in our legislatures!
They aren't fighting for anything?!?!
Come to think about it ... I guess they are a bit effeminate.
Every time I see them I imagine how unafraid the enemy would be to see these men they call "Knights" coming at the them in battle. The enemy would keel over laughing.
Aw, lets go back to the good old days! When nuns, priests and brothers could slap the spit out of kids! When our view of God was that of a vengeful diety who waited on us to make just one slip. Lets go back to the legalistic Baltimore Catechism, when missing a Mass or eating a hot dog on Friday sent us to Hell. Yes I agree! The Church has become a bunch of wimps (and pedophiles). Lets finish undoing the 2nd Vatican Council teachings. Lets not try to follow its teaching about the place of all baptized in the Church. Lets do away with Parish Councils, what do lay people know anyway? The power all belongs to the hierarchy and thats the way it should be. Lets hunt down homosexuals. Christ did not die for them. Lets keep the women in the kitchen barefoot, illiterate and pregnant. They are just girls and have nothing to say! Lets place the Church of 1959 at the apex. It reached perfection then, and nothing needs to be changed from that point. I am mad as hell too! If they only hadn't changed the Mass to the vernacular, the seminaries would still be full of hetro-sexual men!
ReplyDeleteSay what you will anonymous, but deep-down you know that you are wrong. In the 50s, seminaries were full, convents were full, confessional lines stretched outside the Church, and Fulton Sheen gave I Love Lucy a run for its money - a priest with a chalkboard. The Church was much stronger and enjoyed much respect.
ReplyDeleteNow the Church is plagued with sex scandals, homosexualist clergy, effeminate Judy Garland types who spend more time on their hair than they do on their homilies.
The Church in this country - and other areas around the globe - is largely ignored because she has lost much of her credibility. Mass attendance has plummeted, confessionals are nearly empty in most places because the sense of sin has been lost.
The Church in many areas is in a shambles because it has been effeminized. This softness has led to much apostasy.
The 50s look pretty good from this vantage point.
Anonymous, the "legalistic Baltimore Catechism" you refer to is still considered one of the most influential books in the history of catechetical efforts by the Catholic Church in the United States. It was originally mandated by the Third Plenary Council of bishops meeting in Baltimore in 1884.
ReplyDeleteIt was given formal approbation by the Archbishop of Baltimore, James Cardinal Gibbons, on April 6, 1885, as the official text recommended for the religious instruction of Catholic children in the United States
Hunt down homosexuals? The only real violence I've been witnessing is from radical homosexual activists who vandalized Christian and Mormon churches in California and attacked hundreds of Christians and Mormons over Proposition 8. The hatred and ugly rhetoric comes from the homosexual hate movement.
Anonymous (like most liberals) cannot provide solid theological arguments. And so he falls back on silly victim rhetoric: "Let's hunt down homosexuals" and "Lets keep the women in the kitchen barefoot, illiterate and pregnant. They are just girls and have nothing to say!"
ReplyDeleteWho ever called for these things? This is the typical claptrap offered by poorly educated liberal Catholics who rely on slogans as a substitute for thought.
Since when were women kept "barefoot and pregnant" in the 50s? I grew up in the fifties and never felt put down. I'm willing to bet anonymous wasn't even around in the 50s.
How does a bogus masculinity honor or liberate women? It doesn't. We've had enough of the lies coming from the prostituted liberal counter-church.
If a woman cuts her hair and burns her bra that doesn't liberate her. What truly liberates is holiness of life. This is why Our Lady is the model of authentic liberation. She accepted her femininity and her role. And she is greater than all the other Saints combined.
We're not buying your spiritual pablum anonymous. Solid food is for adults. And The Baltimore Catechism is solid food. Small wonder then that you dsparage this treasure which received the Church's approval.
I agree with you Michelle. The act is getting stale. The victimizers want to play victim now that they sense the so-called "common man" (they have nothing but contempt for we the "little people") is beginning to say "enough is enough"!
ReplyDeleteThe Boston Archdiocese is in meltdown. Its credibility is in grave crisis.
I'm getting the sense that the time is becoming ripe for a Catholic Tea Party or some sort of reform movement. The faithful are really fed up with the nonsense and feel that the hierarchy in Boston - and I would include Worcester as well - simply do not care to deal with homosexuality and dissent.
ReplyDeleteI believe people like Father Erikson are just out-of-touch with the "average" Catholic in the pew. But then, this is exactly what happens when you surround yourself only with people who share the same liberal mindset. It's like the MSM types. Because they are liberal, they cannot grasp, let alone appreciate, the fact that many people in this country do not think like them. They view us as "backwards" and "irrelevant" on those few occasions that they actually do acknowledge our existence. We are the people President Obama had in mind when he spoke of those who "cling to religion and guns." Anyone with traditional moral values who happens to own a gun is sme sort of nut who cannot be taken seriously.
Talk about antipathy toward those who are different.
I signed the form at Bryan Hehir Exposed. These modernistic revolutionaries have to be stopped.
