Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick calls Christian soldiers "bigots."

The Washington Times is reporting that Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick, the Army's deputy chief of staff in charge of personnel matters who spoke about "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" before several hundred troops at the European Command headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, said: "Unfortunately, we have a minority of service members who are still racists and bigoted and you will never be able to get rid of all of them...But these people opposing this new policy will need to get with the program, and if they can't, they need to get out. No matter how much training and education of those in opposition, you're always going to have those that oppose this on moral and religious grounds just like you still have racists today." Full article here.

Ironically, General Bostick's commentary reveals that he is guilty of the very charge which he levels against Christians who oppose homosexuality. In Slouching Towards Gomorrah, Robert H. Bork writes, "Moral objection to homosexual practices is not the same thing as animus, unless all disapprovals based on morality are to be disallowed as mere animus. Modern liberalism tends to classify all moral distinctions it does not accept as hateful and invalid. Moral views about sexual practices are particularly suspect.." (p. 113).
As I said in a previous post: "..the same radical homosexual activists who continually cry for more "tolerance" are anything but tolerant. This is a spiritual war. The homosexual movement is not a civil rights movement. It is an attempt at moral revolution. An attempt to change people's view of homosexuality.

Writing in the Chicago Free Press, even homosexual activist Paul Varnell admitted this. He wrote, "The fundamental controverted issue about homosexuality is not discrimination, hate crimes or domestic partnerships, but the morality of homosexuality. Even if gays obtain non-discrimination laws, hate crimes law and domestic partnership benefits, those can do little to counter the underlying moral condemnation which will continue to fester beneath the law and generate hostility, fuel hate crimes, support conversion therapies, encourage gay youth suicide and inhibit the full social acceptance that is our goal. On the other hand, if we convince people that homosexuality is fully moral, then all their inclination to discriminate, engage in gay-bashing or oppose gay marriage disappears. Gay youths and adults could readily accept themselves. So the gay movement, whether we acknowledge it or not, is not a civil rights movement, not even a sexual liberation movement, but a moral revolution aimed at changing people's view of homosexuality." (Paul Varnell, "Defending Our Morality," Chicago Free Press, Aug 16, 2000, See here).

  1. The Army needs to issue an apology for the inappropriate comments issued by this ideologue. There are more Christians in the military than one can shake a Bostick at. And they have every right to their moral and religious convictions.

I think the general should bostick his hateful views where the sun doesn't shine. I'm sorry but this is simply outrageous. This sort of anti-Christian bigotry has no place in today's army. I am a soldier and a Christian and I am ANGRY!!!

  3. Where does the military find a clown like this? And what are his hateful views toward Christians serving in the Army going to do for troop morale? I mean, honestly, is this the sort of leadership we have in our armed forces today? Small wonder we're having so many difficulties in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This out-of-control three-star clown should be reprimanded and removed from his billet.

    Unbelievable.

Makes me wonder if the general isn't anxious to bash Christians because of a deep-seated Christianophobia and perhaps because he has a homosexual orientation himself? Whatever the reason, his anti-Christian bigotry should be addressed by the White House. If the White House remains silent, then we will know it approves of the general's bigotry.

More abuse of power. Great, just what we need. General Bostick is living proof of how some people become tyrants when they have a little power.

When I was in boot camp my DI used to tell those of us from Texas (like Louis Gosset did in An Officer and a Gentleman), "There are only two things that come out of Texas: steers and queers, and I don't see any horns on you." I guess we could say the same thing about army generals.

If anyone is being offensive, it is this anti-Christian bigot.

I served in the Army and separated 10 years ago. I am now ashamed at what the Army has become. And I am ashamed at times of what America has become. The Army, through General Bostick, has said that those with religious opposition to homosexuality should leave. And that's what this majority should do. Leave the Army to just homosexual personnel. We'll see how many remain. If they don't want you, don't reenlist.

If the general has his way, "homophobia" will become cause for a dishonorable discharge, replacing homosexuality.

I think there is more going on here in regards to the military than meets the eye.

I believe the top brass know that this culture has made homosexuality nothing to be ashamed about. And they also know that a really big war may come some day, including this War on Terror farce possilby needing new blood in the very near future, that may actually require a return to the draft.

Now back in the early '70s, and before, it would be very rare for a young man to fake being a homosexual to avoid military service. However, now that would be a get out of jail free card that would be too easy.

That's why I think this is accepted and promoted by those who ordinarily would be against these initiatives. They need to block this easy way out. That it helps further break down society is just the icing on the cake IMHO.

  11. The Senate today (9/21/10), in a 56-43 vote, dealt a significant blow to the Obama administration's efforts to repeal the "Don't ask, don't tell" law.

I wonder if General Bostick will have uncharitable words for members of the Senate as he did for Christian soldiers?

Does the General consider these senators to be "bigots"?
