The artificial vocations crisis and Francis the "Merciful"...

Writing on the continued vocations crisis, Father John Zuhlsdorf correctly notes:

"The crisis of priestly vocations is largely artificial.   It has, in some cases, been manufactured.

Tradition is the counter-measure to the crisis.  It works where it is tried.

Also, we need to pray explicitly for vocations and keep the sound of that prayer ringing constantly in the ears of parents and their sons.  Again, I propose that every parish adopt the following prayer, to be prayed while kneeling by the entire congregation at every Sunday Mass immediately after the Gospel..."

Readers of this Blog know that I've been addressing the vocations crisis for years.  My own vocation was sabotaged by the La Salette Missionaries because I oppose the ordination of women to the priesthood.  See here.

Although I have had extensive psychological testing and screening for the United States military (as part of my security clearance for military intelligence) and have received glowing reports which indicate that I am free of any pathologies - including a homosexual inclination, when I contacted the Worcester Diocese (twice) to express my interest in discerning a priestly vocation, I received no response whatsoever.

Meanwhile, the Diocese of Worcester has ordained homosexual men to the priesthood.  For example, a psychological evaluation in 1977 prior to the ordination of Fr. Jean Paul Gagnon  indicated that the candidate had possible "sex role identification" problems. See here.

When I left a comment on Francis' Facebook page detailing my struggle to pursue a vocation to the priesthood, I received no response whatsoever.  And yet, Francis found the time to personally meet with a homosexual activist who claims to be married to another man - Simon Cazal.  See here.

But then, as a pesky orthodox Catholic who actually believes everything contained in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, no doubt the "merciful" Francis seems me too "rigid" and not open to change.

That's okay though.  I'd rather be a faithful member of the Common Priesthood of the Faithful than Francis' idea of a priest.

For what does it profit a man...you know the rest!

But not to worry folks, all is well.  See here.

Artificial indeed. If the bishops had paid any attention to Pope Benedict's urging that the Tridentine mass be welcomed and encouraged in our parishes, we would have many more Traditional candidates for the priesthood. The fields were white with those who wanted the Latin mass, but they were ignored and marginalized. Most parishes that do offer a Tridentine mass find that the faithful have to crowd into smaller churches at inconvenient mass times, yet it was said there was "no interest in Latin masses". Couple that with the proliferation of altar girls who usurp the proper place of our boys in serving altar,(part and parcel of the feminization of the church) and you have part of the problem. Many a good priest has said they felt the first stirrings of a vocational calling to while serving altar as boys. It suits the progressive and liberal agenda of the far left in the church heirarchy to keep orthodox and faithful Catholics out of the seminaries. Very Sad.

  2. Well said Cyn. I cannot even volunteer at my parish. When I first attempted to register at Saint Mary's Church in Orange [Massachusetts], I was met with resistance. No one bothered to get back to me. Masculine men who possess a strong Marian devotion and Traditional piety are about as welcome at that parish as Andrew Dice Clay would be at a NOW convention.

The status quo at Saint Mary's feels threatened by a strong, Faithful layman who is so knowledgeable about the Catholic Faith. In a normal atmosphere, your gifts would be welcomed and celebrated. But in a feminist-driven parish, only effeminate men or practicing homosexuals are welcome.

  6. Paul, would love to have you at my parish! And you would be able to fit in too. And this is a novus ordo parish with a TLM at noon on Sundays. I wish to see more masculine men who love Christ and Our Lady step up and lead--something! Lead the 40 Days for Life, lead a parish program, start the rosary before Mass, etc...

    1. Thank you for that M. Prodigal! It's refreshing to meet good Catholics like yourself for whom masculinity is not a disease!

      God bless you!

Thank you for deleting the comment accusing me of being a "liar" for taking exception to the feminist-driven Saint Mary's Church in Orange. I am a parishioner. And what I see is a shortage of men and boys participating in parish ministry. CCD Coordinator: a woman; Music Minister: a woman; Parish Secretary: a woman; Pastoral Care Ministry: a woman; Most altar servers: girls; Most Extraordinary Ministers: women; and so on.

Facts are facts. The parish, as with so many other parishes, ignores men...especially masculine men.

Oh, one more thing...a woman's organization but nothing similar for men.

Misandry is alive and well at Saint Mary's. If this were not the case, you wouldn't have been excluded from parish involvement Paul.

    Keep up the great work!

You would also be more than welcomed at my parish church,Paul. My church has a good number of men who serve in different capacities. All are encouraged to participate. Also, the ones who serve altar are all men and boys. No misandry at all in my parish. It hurts my heart that you and your mother have been treated so poorly at your parish. may God have mercy on the clergy and parishioners at St.Mary's in Orange.God sees your heart for Him, He will reward you. Praying for you and your ministry daily.Stay strong , your masculinity is a gift from God, not a detriment.

  9. Thank you for that kind note Cyn. Misandry is crippling the Church. Many men seek their "religion" in sports or elsewhere because they're turned off by effeminacy in the Church and the radical feminist agenda.

I'm so happy that this is not an issue in your Church.
