The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), has included the Saint Benedict Center in Richmond, New Hampshire in its list of anti-Semitic hate groups: http://www.splcenter.org/
According to the SPLC (and this will come as no surprise to readers of this Blog who have followed my articles exposing the SBC's anti-Semitic ideology), in 2005, Broter Anthony Mary, M.I.C.M., Tert., told a conference that "the Jewish nation" is the "perpetual enemy of Christ." The SPLC also reports that Brother Anthony Mary referred to the Jews as the "synagogue of Satan."
Various residents of the town of Richmond, New Hampshire have expressed their concerns regarding the SBC Cult at The Keene Sentinel (Keene, NH newspaper) Talkback Forum. A friend of mine reports that one such resident (who shall remain nameless for safety reasons) emailed him and indicated that residents of Richmond have heard gunshots from handguns, rifles and even automatic weapons.
This situation calls for prayer.

ya know this group has been somewhat of a mystery to me. There's also the oddity of thier beliefs regarding "outside the church there is not salvation" They believe and preach that no soul that is not a member of the Roman Catholic church is saved. This is a condemned heresy. Those outside the church can be saved albeit through the church. I have gotten thier periodical From the Rooftops and they write so beautifully and clearly regarding the Catholic faith, it is truly refreshing - but there's oddities there certainly.

Indeed Sanctus. Oddities and a rabid anti-Semitism. Fr. Leonard Feeney was known to refer to Jewish people as "kikes" and African-Americans as "niggers." This is well documented in the Feeney Collection of the Archives for the Archdiocese of Boston.

No salvation outside the Church is indeed a dogma of the faith. But a dogma which must be understood as the Church herself understands it.

Concerns are growing in Richmond. I only hope that we don't witness an explosion of violence from ths cult. I remain concerned over the reports coming in of automatic weapons being discharged on SBC grounds.

From what I hear, residents of Richmond NH are talking about addressing their concerns over the SBC with law enforcement officials.

I think it's time for the Church to formally excommunicate these people who feign at being Catholic. They have already deserted the Church and are causing too much scandal.

Someone needs to help the residents of Richmond. Isn't there some way to prove this "cult" is 100% certainly not Roman Catholic and can't they be held accountable??? Richmond residents are waking up but until there is something concrete, there will always be doubters. Please help.

Dear Richmond Rising,

Thank you for your comments. Indeed, the Diocese of Manchester has stated that the Saint Benedict Cente is not in union with the Church. I would recommend contacting the Chancery directly regarding this matter. After all, when all is said and done, it must be recognized that ayone who claims to be Catholic and in communion with the Church must recognize the authority of the local ordinary (Bishop) and his authority.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church, Nos. 1257-1260, provides us with the Church's teaching regarding the necessity of Baptism. No one who claims to be Catholic may dissent from this teaching. It represents the Magisterial teaching of the Church and is therefore the mind of Christ on this matter.

Pope John Paul II said (in his Encyclical Letter Veritatis Splendor, No. 113), that dissent is opposed to ecclesial communion. When members of the SBC dissent from the Church's Magisterial teaching regarding the necessity of Baptism, they reject the mind of Christ on this matter.

I would refer you to Ad Tuendam Fidem and the changes this document made to Canon 750 of the Code of Canon Law. In fact, I will be posting this document this morning at La Salette Journey.

I would also refer you to Pope John Paul II's book "Crossing the Threshold of Hope" where His Holiness explains the Church's teaching on Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus. "Brother" Andre Marie and members of the SBC cult may disagree with his teaching. But then again, they have not been chosen by the Holy Spirit to guide Christ's Church as Sovereign Pontiff.

I wish you and all the residents of Richmond who are so concerned about the SBC all the best and you can be assured of my prayers.

God love you,
Paul.

I meant to type "Saint Benedict Center" above. Computer keyboards being what they are.

The teaching of the Catholic Church on this subject couldn't be more clear. I would like to know if Brother Andre is attempting to pass himself off as a cleric though. It is very serious thing to impersonate a Catholic priest. In the photograph here at La Salette Journey, Brother Andre is seen in what looks like priestly garb and, as Paul has said, wearing a biretta. What gives here?

It is time for the Bishop of Manchester to publicly denounce this cult for the frauds that they are. To sit back and say and do nothing is quite cowardly. This Bishop needs to speak out!
