The Darkness Spreads...

Please pray for Peterborough, New Hampshire which will be hosting a major Wiccan festival soon. Occultists will be gathering in that town on October 25th for "Celebrate Samhain: A Celebration of the Final Harvest and Ancestors Past." See: http://www.celebratesamhain.com/. Peterborough, as some of you may know, was the inspiration for Thornton Wilder's play "Our Town." Let's make it our town again as Christians.

As the darkness continues to spread, we need to be salt and light.

Thank you & God love you.
Paul.

More info on Samhain here.

Witchcraft is exploding across the United States. Witchcraft and Satanism have really taken root in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire. Peterborough is now the home of a publishing company called Pentacle Press:
www.pentaclepress.com which offers books on Satanism, Wicca and New Age occultism.

These pagans are committed toward spreading their religion across the region. Are we going to oppose their efforts or just give into paganism?

The churches have been largely silent on this issue.

Demons are united to destroy the world. Let our hearts and minds be united to overthrow them. Let us be followers of Christ, Friends of the Cross and not the followers of the world.

I think it's scary that as Christian Churches close throughout NH, Wiccan covens are growing faster than ever. The Churches do need to address this problem Michelle. But I'm not seeing it either.

"The Darkness Spreads..."
... even to Catholic institutions of higher education:

1. From the Cardinal Newman Society website:

Gay-Straight Alliance hosting "Coming Out Night" at an on-campus bar Oct. 8 [2008]:

On Thursday October 9 Catholic Fairfield University in Connecticut will kick off a college tour for Project Halo, “a high impact event with an innovative prospective on preventing acts of intolerance towards gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered individuals.” Michael Cicirelli, Fairfield junior and founder of Project Halo, is a keynote speaker for the organization. According to the Fairfield University website, the event is in honor of National Coming Out Month. A day earlier on Wednesday October 8, Fairfield’s Gay-Straight Alliance club will host “Coming Out Night” at a bar on campus.

Biography of one of the "facilitators" of SEDUCED BY GRACE: Exploring Christian Spirituality and Gay Experience
Friday, November 30 – Sunday, December 2, 2007:

James B. Nickoloff is Associate Professor of Religious Studies at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he has taught since 1989. Besides Holy Cross, he has taught at Boston College, Weston Jesuit School of Theology, Santa Clara University, and the Jesuit Theological College in Melbourne, Australia. He teaches courses on Catholic theology with a special focus on the various theologies of liberation (Latin American, Afro-American, feminist, and gay and lesbian). He is the editor of "Gustavo Gutiérrez: Essential Writings" (Orbis Books, 1996) and the co-editor with Orlando Espín of "An Introductory Dictionary of Theology and Religious Studies" due out in November of this year [2007] (Liturgical Press). He has lived and worked for extended periods in Andong, Korea; Kingston, Jamaica; and Lima, Peru, where he was a close associate of Gustavo Gutiérrez, considered by many to be the father of liberation theology. These periods of time outside the U.S. have profoundly shaped both Jim’s faith and theology. Jim was a Jesuit from 1975 to 1990, working for several years as a spiritual director. In July of this year [2007] he married his long-time partner Robert McCleary [a former student (Jesuit seminarian?) at Weston Jesuit School of Theology] in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
