"..Scandal is grave when given by those who by nature or office are obliged to teach and educate others. Jesus reproaches the scribes and Pharisees on this account: he likens them to wolves in sheep's clothing." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, No. 2285).
Bishop Gracida is to be commended for courageously speaking the truth.
Be sure to keep His Excellency in your prayers.

I haven't heard a similar statement from Bishop McManus here in Worcester. Does anyone know if he made any statement on Kennedy's funeral?
Bishop Gracida said, "There was so much wrong with the funeral liturgy celebrated in Boston last Saturday for Senator Edward Moore Kennedy that I hardly know where to begin."
And yet Paul, when a handful of lay people like yourself were saying the same thing, you were immediately criticized by some priests.
This is nothing short of clericalism, the notion that the clergy are somehow "superior" to the laity and that the latter should simply shut up and blindly follow every whim of each and every cleric.
Just as we should avoid anticlericalism we should avoid clericalism. Both are extremes.
Thanks, Mr Melanson, for your comment on my blog. I'm glad to have found your blog too.
God bless you!
