According to NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, there have been ten major disasters so far this year in the United States. These enormous disasters have been responsible for 700 dead and more than 35 billion in property damage. See here.
It was Therese Neumann, German stigmatist and mystic, who prophesied that "..America will be destroyed economically by a series of natural disasters." In fact, Our Lord told the mystic that, "I have warned them and have postponed, as I did with Sodom, but Sodom would not listen to Me, nor do the people listen to Me nowadays, nor heed My warnings; therefore they will incur the sad experience of My wrath which they deserve."
Hitler knew of Neuman's mystical gifts and both hated and feared her. Today, in an age crippled by secular humanism, most people simply laugh at the idea of chastisement*, just as the people of Noah's time laughed, mocking him and his family as they built an ark in preparation for the flood waters.
Increasingly, Americans are coming to reject God's plan for marriage and family life. As a result, America is placing itself under judgement. Our Lady told Fr. Stephano Gobbi on November 15, 1990, at Malvern Pennsylvania: "I announce to you that the hour of the great trial is on the point of arriving. The great trial has arrived for your country. How many times, as a concerned and sorrowing mother, have I endeavored to urge my children to follow the path of conversion and of return to the Lord. I have not been listened to. You have continued to walk along the way of rejection of God, and of His law of love. Sins of impurity have become ever more widespread, and immorality has spread like a sea which has submerged all things. Homosexuality, a sin of impurity which is against nature, has been justified; recourse to the means of preventing life have become commonplace, while abortions - these killings of innocent children, that cry for vengeance before the face of God - have spread and are performed in every part of your homeland. The moment of divine justice and of great mercy has now arrived.
You will know the hour of weakness and of poverty; the hour of suffering and defeat; the purifying hour of the great chastisement. The great trial has arrived for your Church. How great is your responsibility, O Pastors of the Holy Church of God! You continue along the path of division from the Pope and of the rejection of his Magisterium; indeed, in a hidden way, there is in preparation a true schism which could soon become open and proclaimed...And then, there will remain only a small faithful remnant, over which I will keep watch in the garden of my Immaculate Heart.
The great trial has arrived for all humanity. The chastisement, predicted by me at Fatima and contained in that part of the secret which has not yet been revealed, is about to take place. The great moment of divine justice and of mercy has come upon the world."
* Here's why they shouldn't.

America will be destroyed economically by a series of natural disasters...
Therese Neumann, a German stigmatist and mystic, warned that, "..America will be destroyed economically by a series of natural disasters." Indeed, as this website explains in a November, 2005 article, "Even when accounting for the exponential rise in GDP over the last four decades, cost of natural disasters as a percentage of GDP have more than tripled..This figure does not include the recent costs from Hurricane Katrina.." Now the United States is facing a snow storm with a 2,100 mile swath which will affect more than two dozen states and 100 million people. See here. And this in the middle of a winter which has delivered a blow to government budgets across the country. See here.
Our Lord is so rich in mercy that He told Saint Faustina, "Let the greatest sinners place their trust in My mercy. They have the right before others to trust in the abyss of My mercy. My daughter, write about My mercy towards tormented souls. Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to My compassion, but on the contrary, I justify him in My unfathomable and inscrutable mercy.." (Divine Mercy in My Soul, Notebook III, 1146). This is one of the reasons I began this Blog. To promote the whole idea of reconciliation. The La Salette message is one of reconciliation. This is a message of hope. But also one of warning.
But many Americans - and this includes Catholics - have a tendency to hear what they want to hear and disregard the rest. Such people will read passages from Sacred Scripture (or other holy books) which they find comforting while glossing over others which they find troubling. By way of example, I've read many commentaries which cite the passage from Divine Mercy in My Soul which I just cited but which conveniently omit the last portion of the paragraph: "Write: before I come as a just Judge, I first open wide the door of My mercy. He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice..."
A chastisement is coming. Why? Father Albert Hebert, S.M., explains: "Sin and evil is the one enemy of mankind. It spearheads the columns of all the other evils it brings with it. It brings destruction and death, and a terrible eternal death for the unrepentant, those who flaunt their pride and their resistance in the face of a Loving and Merciful God, those who are a continuous scandal to others. They forget that God's Justice must be infinite too, and that sooner or later it must be exercised to preserve His honor and integrity, to save the innocent, to confirm the good and to justify the martyrs."
Make no mistake about it: God will not be mocked. Unless we as a people repent from our sins and make atonement, the chastisement we face will be indescribable. How many innocent babies have been murdered every year? Do you suppose that the blood of Abel cried out to God after his murder but that the blood of these babies does not? Sins of homosexuality, contraception, fornication, adultery and so on. Do you suppose God will continue to allow Himself to be mocked?

"...America will be destroyed economically by a series of natural disasters."

"..at the end of this century America will be destroyed economically by a series of natural disasters." - Therese Neumann, German stigmatist and mystic.
Latest disaster much more significant than most of us realized. See here.
And how much did Katrina cost the United States? Not to mention the spate of other disasters (natural and man-made) which have greatly impacted this nation's economy. Our Lady told Father Gobbi that the hour of poverty and defeat was on the verge of arriving for the United States. Has this hour arrived?

God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations...

Pastor David Wilkerson is only speaking the truth when he says, "God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations...He is destroying the secular foundations." I was in prayer to the Holy Spirit this morning when I opened up the Scriptures twice. My eyes fell on this passage from Revelation 18: 10-17:
'Alas, alas, great city,
Babylon, mighty city,
In one hour your judgment has come'
The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn for her, because there will be no more markets for their cargo: their cargo of gold, silver, precious stones, and pearls; fine linen, purple silk, and scarlet cloth; fragrant wood of every kind, all articles of ivory and all articles of the most expensive wood, bronze, iron, and marble; cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, and frankincense; wine, olive oil, fine flour, and wheat; cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human beings.
'The fruit you craved
has left you.
All your luxury and splendor are
gone,
never again will one find them.'
The merchants who deal in these goods, who grew rich from her, will keep their distance for fear of the torment inflicted on her. Weeping and mourning, they cry out:
'Alas, alas, great city,
wearing fine linen, purple and
scarlet,
adorned [in] gold, precious
stones, and pearls.
In one hour this great wealth has been ruined.'"
And then I broke open in prayer to Psalms 49 and 50. Psalm 49 [Confidence in God rather than in Riches]:
"Hear this, all you peoples! Give ear, all who inhabit the world,
You of lowly birth or high estate, rich and poor alike.
My mouth shall speak wisdom, my heart shall offer insight.
I will turn my attention to a problem, expound my question to the music of a lyre.
Why should I fear in evil days, when my wicked pursuers ring me around,
Those who trust in their wealth and boast of their abundant riches?
One cannot redeem oneself, pay to God a ransom.
Too high the price to redeem a life;
one would never have enough
To stay alive forever and never see the pit.
Anyone can see that the wisest die,
the fool and the senseless pass away too,
and must leave their wealth to others.
Tombs are their homes forever,
their dwellings through all
generations,
though they gave their names
to their lands.
For all their riches
mortals do not abide;
they perish like the beasts.
This is the destiny of those who
trust in folly,
the end of those so pleased with their wealth.
Like sheep they are herded into Sheol,
where death will be their shepherd.
Straight to the grave they descend,
where their form will waste away,
Sheol will be their palace.
But God will redeem my life,
will take me from the power of Sheol.
Do not fear when others become rich,
when the wealth of their houses grows great.
When they die they will take nothing with them
their wealth will not follow them down.
When living, they congratulate themselves and say:
'All praise you, you do so well.'
But they will join the company of their forebears,
never again to see the light
For all their riches,
if mortals do not have wisdom,
they perish like the beasts."
Psalm 50:
"The Lord, the God of gods,
has spoken and summoned the earth
from the rising of the sun to its setting.
From Zion God shines forth,
perfect in beauty.
Our God comes and will not be silent!
Devouring fire precedes,
storming fiercely round about.
God summons the heavens above
and the earth to the judgment of his people.."
Pastor Wilkerson sees this. He says that fires, "..will engulf the whole megaplex [New York City], including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires.."
Don't expect our secular leaders [or even, sadly, many of our leaders within the Church], to acknowledge the gravity of our present situation. Many of these are too busy counting their money or enjoying a life of ease and prosperity as they follow the "gospel" of riches. Almighty God has already told us of their fate.
The only stimulus package we need is the one adopted by the people of Nineveh. They repented. Sackcloth and ashes is what we need. Not bailouts and earmarks.
