A Call to the State Attorney General

Now that the Saint Benedict Center in Richmond, New Hampshire has been listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, perhaps it is time for the State Attorney General's Office to invesigate the school which they operate. SBC members have referred to the Jewish People as the "Synagogue of Satan" and as a people who "undermine public morality." Is anti-Semitism being taught at the SBC school? Mind you, I'm not levelling accusations. I'm merely asking a rather difficult question. Like Socrates, I believe in playing the gadfly to awaken people from their slumber.

There is a song from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific entitled "You've got to be carefully taught":

You've got to be taught to hate and fear.
You've got to be taught from year to year.
It's got to be drummed in your dear little ear.
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate!
You've got to be carefully taught!
You've got to be carefully taught!

It is no small thing that Stormfront (another recognized hate group) has defended the Saint Benedict Center. Would this not indicate that Stormfront shares the same ideology (at least on certain points such as anti-Semitism) as the Saint Benedict Center?

Children are created in the image and likeness of God. And they are our future. We must therefore treasure them and safeguard them from any ideology which is rooted in hatred of neighbor. Will the State Attorney General's Office treat this situation with the seriousness it deserves?

By the grace of God they will.

Paul.

It's a safe bet that SBC types are passing along their hateful philosophy to the children who attend the school. But since we don't know for certain, all the more reason for the AG to step in and investigate the matter.

The parents of children in Richmond should all be up in arms. Are these children being taught how to hate Jews? The state of NH really needs to do something about this. I hope we hear from Kelly Ayotte about this and soon. This has me sick with concern. There seems to be a media blackout on this story thus far. CNN should take a look at this. This is really unsettling stuff.

If children are being taught to hate at this school, wouldn't that constitute a form of child abuse? Not physical abuse of course, but emotional abuse no?

I don't understand why the town of Richmond would grant this school permission to expand without first investigating it to see if hate is being taught.

What is going on here?

Kenneth, please visit this web-site.

This is already an illegal school that they want to expand upon. And yes, we do wonder what kind of hatred and/or intolerance could possibly be taught there? The town of Richmond is being hit all around with lawsuits pertaining to a proposed expansion of illegal buildings. Please visit the above mentioned web site which will bring you to other informative links.
Sheila, Chronicle Channel 5 will be airing a story some time next month on the goings on here in Richmond. Stay tuned!

I think the SBC is now worried. The public is now hearing about the shenanigans of the SBCult and how they are not associated with the Catholic Church in any way. Expect the attacks on Paul Melanson and Russell Provost to escalate. Already at the SBC Watch Blog - http://sbcwatch.blogspot.com - an anonymous individual calling himself SBC Watch Watcher is being hurling more criticism at Paul.

I was browsing philosophy-related Blogs and came across your fine Blog. It is really frightening to think that a school in your state may be teaching anti-Semitism to young impressionable children. If the AG from your state doesn't investigate this, something is really really wrong. It would send the message that children are not considered important enough to protect. The same AG's office really audited the Diocese of Manchester to ensure compliance with programs designed to protect children from sexual abuse. Let's hope that same office will be just as motivated in ensuring that children are protected from the emotional and spiritual abuse of anti-Semitism.
