Mayor Lisa Wong and the three "R"s in Fitchburg

In a previous post, I noted how Fitchburg Mayor Lisa Wong would like to see Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts open an office at Burbank Hospital. No doubt Ms. Wong believes that a Planned Parenthood clinic would play a vital role in her "revitalization" program for the city.

Mayor Wong's moral compass is in such disarray that while she is deeply concerned about excess trash filling our landfills (saying in one interview that "It seems like everything is being thrown away" - see here), she appears to be totally unconcerned about innocent babies being slaughtered in the womb and thrown away. While recycling is vital for Ms. Wong, preserving the lives of the unborn is not. It was Winifred Egan who said, "What an irony that a society confronted with plastic bags filled with the remains of aborted babies should be more concerned about the problem of recycling the plastic."

The fact that cold, uncaring politicians like Lisa Wong have succumbed to such madness is no reason for the rest of us to follow suit. For Fitchburg's mayor, "The three "R"s in Fitchburg are the Rail, River and the Road.." But she left out an "R" - for Reality.

In today's Sentinel & Enterprise, a woman is claiming that Planned Parenthood doesn't really turn a profit. But this a lie. In an article titled "Planned Parenthood's Obscene profits," Michelle Malkin had this to say, "Here’s an idea for all the hand-wringing GOP strategists in Washington wondering what it will take to win back disgusted economic and social conservatives: How about a Republican presidential candidate who will talk about the tax-subsidized abortion industry the way McCain talks about oil industry?

In April, [of 2008] the annual report of Planned Parenthood Federation of America revealed that the abortion giant had a total income of $1.02 billion—with reported profits of nearly $115 million. Taxpayers kick in more than $336 million worth of government grants and contracts at both the state and federal levels. That’s a third of Planned Parenthood’s budget.

And what market-distorting results do we get for those government incentives? 289,650 abortions in 2006."

Planned Parenthood is in the business of killing children. The agency will not revitalize Fitchburg. It will represent yet another defeat for a city which is on the verge of moral and economic collapse.

I wonder what Mayor Wong sees when she looks at that photograph? Progress maybe? Revitalization? Some truths are hard Paul. And so few are willing to speak them. Good for you!

It was Pastor Martin Niemoller, an opponent of the Nazis, who wrote: "First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out for me."

Apparently Wong isn't concerned with Planned Parenthood's anti-Catholicism either.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD RIPS CATHOLICISM

February 9, 2010

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on a new report by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) on sex education:

The goal of IPPF is to sexually engineer society, and one way to accomplish this feat is to smear religious conservatives, especially Catholics. This new report not only substantiates this charge, it makes it clear that Planned Parenthood wants to bring its irresponsible ideas to bear on kids.

“IPPF uses the terms young people, youth and adolescents interchangeably to refer to people who are between 10 and 24.” In other words, 5th graders should be treated the same way graduate students are when it comes to their “sexual and reproductive health and rights.”

The entire program is based on a faulty assumption. IPPF says that “The taboo on youth sexuality is one of the key forces driving the AIDS epidemic and high rates of teenage pregnancy and maternal mortality.” Nonsense. In the 1950s, there was no sex education in the schools, the pill was not commercially available and AIDS didn’t exist. Yet the out-of-wedlock birth rate was comparatively miniscule and sexually transmitted diseases were relatively rare. All because of taboos.

According to IPPF, it’s those Catholics—who are indistinguishable from radical Islamists—who are the problem. “Fundamentalist and other religious groups—the Catholic Church and madrasas (Islamic schools) for example—have imposed tremendous barriers that prevent young people, particularly, from obtaining information and services related to sex and reproduction.”

So the kids in Sister Mary’s class who learn about responsible sex are analogous to Imam Mohammad’s kids who are either denied sex education or are told that homosexuality is punishable by death. Finally, why is it that public school students, who know so much more about sex than those dunces in the parochial schools, are precisely the ones walking around with the highest rates of illegitimacy, abortion and herpes?

Less than a month into her first term, Mayor Wong had a new slogan "Fit, Fun and Funky." Her idea of a revitalized Fitchburg, a "fun" Fitchburg, is a place where young professionals can enjoy sex without responsibility. And if they do happen to conceive a child, they can simply get rid of it. In the "new Fitchburg" moral truths and responsibility will be a drag. They won't be fun and funky.

It's interesting - at least to me - that Wong would choose the word "fit" for her Fitchburg slogan. Margaret Sanger employed the same word in what has become a very well-known quotation which describes Planned Parenthood's agenda: "More children from the fit, less from the unfit - that is the chief aim of birth control." (Birth Control Review, May 1919, p. 12).

This letter to the Editor of the Sentinel & Enterprise by Anthony Di Russo was published today:

I read with interest the articles on Planned Parenthood coming to Fitchburg.

The city attorney may be right in thinking that organization cannot be completely outlawed, but many cities and towns use zoning and other restrictions to keep undesirables in their place.

One of the main problems with Planned Parenthood is that it is to its economic advantage to promote a breakdown of self-control among the young. After all, they are the major abortion business in the country.

Young people need to be taught self-control in many aspects of life if they are to avoid tragedy. Because sex is a strong driving force in healthy youngsters, parents are very important. Parents have the prime responsibility to teach the young sexual morality. Youngsters cannot rely on condoms or pills to keep them safe.

If a young man, for example, is used to giving free rein to his urges, he will not restrain himself if he forgets his condom or she has forgotten her pill. Is it any wonder we have a lot of date rape and assault? Self-control has to be interior to the person; relying on latex or drugs cannot solve a human problem.

We see how true that is when young men cannot control their jealousy or desires to dominate their girlfriends.

Planned Parenthood and most forms of secular sex education treat the young as mere animals, not humans. Without moral guidance the young will continue to experience the tragedies of abortion, date rape and worse.
