And yet we still refuse to listen to Our Lady...

In a previous post, I quoted from Our Lady to Father Stefano Gobbi of the Marian Movement of Priests:

"My Church will be shaken by the violent wind of apostasy and unbelief, as he who sets himself against Christ will enter into its interior, thus bringing to fulfillment the horrible abomination which has been prophesied to you in Holy Scripture. Humanity will know the bloody hour of its chastisement: it will be stricken with the scourge of epidemics, of hunger and of fire; much blood will be spilt upon your roads; war will spread everywhere, bringing down upon the world incommensurable devastation...You, my poor children, must all bear the weight of great sufferings and of unspeakable sorrows, so that the great miracle of divine justice and mercy may be manifest to all..."

Some left comments at this Blog accusing me of being "doom and gloom" and an alarmist. But now an Obama panel is saying that the Swine flu (H1N1) may kill 90,000 and hospitalize 1.8 million. And suddenly the talking hairdos and "experts" have gone mute. Pride always goes before a fall.

Paul, I know you've posted these words from the Blessed Mother to Father Gobbi many times but they belong here: "I announce to you that the hour of the great trial is on the point of arriving. The great trial has arrived for your country. How many times, as a concerned and sorrowing mother, have I endeavored to urge my children to follow the path of conversion and of return to the Lord. I have not been listened to. You have continued to walk along the way of rejection of God, and of His law of love. Sins of impurity have become ever more widespread, and immorality has spread like a sea which has submerged all things. Homosexuality, a sin of impurity which is against nature, has been justified; recourse to the means of preventing life have become commonplace, while abortions - these killings of innocent children, that cry for vengeance before the face of God - have spread and are performed in every part of your homeland. The moment of divine justice and of great mercy has now arrived. You will know the hour of weakness and of poverty; the hour of suffering and defeat; the purifying hour of the great chastisement."

Those are some of the saddest words from Our Lady "I have not been listened to." Our society has ignored the Mother of God as she has pleaded for our conversion. Can we honestly expect the Lord to bless our country?

There Could be Serious Social Disruption from H1N1 this Winter, New Federal Report Warns
by Anthony L. Kimery
Tuesday, 25 August 2009

"Three times as many people could die this coming flu season from the novel 2009-H1N1 influenza virus than die on average each winter from seasonal flu strains, according to the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) report, US Preparations For 2009-H1N1 Influenza. This report examines the strategic issues raised by the likely resurgence this fall of the novel influenza virus called 2009-H1N1.

The 2009-H1N1 flu virus could cause upwards of “90,000 deaths in the United States, concentrated among chil¬dren and young adults,” states the report, which was released by the Obama administration Monday. “In contrast, the 30,000–40,000 annual deaths typically associated with seasonal flu in the United States occur mainly among people over 65. As a result, 2009-H1N1 would lead to many more years of life lost,” the report concluded.

In addition, the 2009-H1N1 flu strain could “produce infection of 30 percent to 50 percent of the US population this fall and winter, with symptoms in approximately 20 percent to 40 percent of the population (60–120 million people), more than half of whom would seek medical attention.”

Consequently, “as many as 1.8 million US hospital admissions during the epidemic” could occur, “with up to 300,000 patients requiring care in intensive care units (ICUs),” the report stated. “Importantly, these very ill patients could occupy 50–100 percent of all ICU beds in affected regions of the country at the peak of the epidemic and could place enormous stress on ICU units, which normally operate close to capacity.”

While these scenarios are alarming, they represent only a relatively mild outbreak – an outbreak that will put inordinate strains on an emergency health care system that is already strained to the breaking point on a daily basis in many parts of the country, as HSToday.us has regularly reported. It’s why there’s been so much concern in recent years about the consequences of an outbreak of a pandemic level influenza strain like the H5N1 bird flu, which is much more lethal than the H1N1 flu virus that’s expected to reemerge this winter.

“The 2009-H1N1 virus is a serious threat to our nation and the world, unlike the ‘swine flu’ episode in 1976 that led to the vaccination of over 40 million Americans in the absence of any spread of the virus beyond an initial four cases at a single Army base,” the PCAST report stated..."

Mark Mallett explains why we shouldn't be disappointed when prophecies are not fulfilled "overnight":

"I have often written over the past few years of the necessity to stay awake, to persevere in these days of change. I believe there is a temptation, however, to read the prophetic warnings and words that God is speaking through various souls these days… and then dismiss or forget them because they have not yet been fulfilled after a few or even several years. Hence, the image I see in my heart is of a Church fallen asleep… "will the son of man find faith on earth when he returns?"

The root of this complacency is often a misunderstanding of how God works through His prophets. It takes time not only for such messages to be disseminated, but for hearts to be converted. God, in His infinite Mercy, gives us that time. I believe the prophetic word is often urgent so as to move our hearts to conversion, though the fulfillment of such words may be—in human perception—some time off. But when they do come to fulfillment (at least those messages which cannot be mitigated), how many souls will wish they had another ten years! For many events will come "like a thief in the night."
