"It is not the mentally ill but ordinary people who are the most susceptible..."

"So this is what we’ve come to in America: religious objections to homosexuality, rooted in the Bible, natural law and the teachings of most religions, is nothing more than a pernicious phobia. Not too long ago, such objections simply constituted common sense. Looks like we need a college course, “Common Sense 101." - The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights.

The English psychiatrist William Sargant observes that: "It is not the mentally ill but ordinary people who are most susceptible to 'brainwashing,' 'conversion,' 'possession,' 'the crisis'....and who...fall readily under the spell of the demagogue or the revivalist, the witch-doctor or the pop group..." Dr. Sargant explains that once the proselyte has been broken down and sensitized, his thinking and feelings can be manipulated and delusions implanted. Propaganda may be used to break people down by telling them that their old values and sentiments "are childish."

Such propaganda is already being employed, and quite effectively, by the mainstream media and even by those within the Catholic Church who want to convince the populace that the homosexual "lifestyle" is acceptable and even a positive good. This is preparation for the new humanitarian religion and the Man of Sin. Last year, President Obama asserted that those who oppose homosexuality are clinging to worn out arguments. As I noted in a previous post, The Catholic Free Press, the official newspaper for the Diocese of Worcester, Massachusetts, has bought into this homosexual agitprop.

But Pope John Paul II has warned us that, "...'the dominion granted to man by the Creator is not an absolute power, nor can one speak of a freedom to use and misuse, or to dispose of things as one pleases. The limitation imposed from the beginning by the Creator himself and expressed symbolically by the prohibition not to eat of the fruit of the tree (cf. Gen 2: 16-17) shows clearly enough that, when it comes to the natural world, we are subject not only to biological laws but also to moral ones, which cannot be violated with impunity.'" (Evangelium Vitae, No. 42, citing Sollicitudo Rei Socialis).

In just one generation people have been so desensitized. People use to react to the sin of homosexuality with horror. Now we see people marching openly in the streets and demanding homosexual "marriage." In the span of one generation, large segments of our country have been conditioned to accept this sin.

This is the work of the Devil.

Abram Kardiner, former Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University, revealed that, "A powerful lobby of 'gay' organizations has brought pressure on the American Psychiatric Association to remove homosexuality from the category of aberrancy. This is only one facet of the tidal wave of egalitarianism and divisiveness that is sweeping the country.."

The APA removed homosexuality from its list of forms of psychopathology not because of scientific evidence, but because of political pressure and propaganda. The same propaganda which is desensitizing so many Americans to accept this aberrancy as "normal" and even "healthy."

But the facts will not be ignored. The truth cannot be suppressed forever. It will always triumph.

We hear much about mercy but so little about what the Church actually teaches about mercy:

"'God created us without us: but he did not will to save us without us.' To receive his mercy, we must admit our faults. 'If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.'

As St. Paul affirms, 'Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.' But to do its work grace must uncover sin so as to convert our hearts and bestow on us 'righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.' Like a physician who probes the wound before treating it, God, by his Word and by his Spirit, casts a living light on sin:

Conversion requires convincing of sin; it includes the interior judgment of conscience, and this, being a proof of the action of the Spirit of truth in man's inmost being, becomes at the same time the start of a new grant of grace and love: 'Receive the Holy Spirit.' Thus in this 'convincing concerning sin' we discover a double gift: the gift of the truth of conscience and the gift of the certainty of redemption. The Spirit of truth is the Consoler."
(Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1847, 1848).

To receive His mercy, we must admit our faults. When we remind the homosexual person of this truth, we are doing a work of mercy. To accuse us of having a "phobia" because we preach the Gospel's call to repentance is, in my view, demonic.

CNN Poll: Majority says government a threat to citizens' rights
Posted: February 26th, 2010 09:00 AM ET

From CNN Deputy Political Director Paul Steinhauser

Fifty-six percent of Americans say the government poses an immediate threat to individual rights and freedoms.

Washington (CNN) – A majority of Americans think the federal government poses a threat to rights of Americans, according to a new national poll.

Fifty-six percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday say they think the federal government's become so large and powerful that it poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens. Forty-four percent of those polled disagree.

The survey indicates a partisan divide on the question: only 37 percent of Democrats, 63 percent of Independents and nearly 7 in 10 Republicans say the federal government poses a threat to the rights of Americans.

According to CNN poll numbers released Sunday, Americans overwhelmingly think that the U.S. government is broken - though the public overwhelmingly holds out hope that what's broken can be fixed.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted February 12-15, with 1,023 adult Americans questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points for the overall survey.

Increasingly, Americans sense they are losing their freedoms and that they are being propagandized by the MSM.

Judgment has started with the Church. But let's not forget what God's Word tells us: "For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? And 'If the righteous man is scarcely saved, where will the impious and sinner appear?" (1 Peter 4: 17,18).

I wonder how many actually reflect upon this scripture?
