The New York Times reports: "Defying the Supreme Court and saying she was acting 'under God’s authority,' a county clerk in Kentucky denied marriage licenses to gay couples on Tuesday, less than a day after the court rejected her request for a delay.
A raucous scene unfolded shortly after 8 a.m. at the Rowan County Courthouse here as two same-sex couples walked into the county clerk’s office, followed by a throng of journalists and chanting protesters on both sides of the issue. One couple, David Ermold and David Moore, tried to engage the county clerk, Kim Davis, in a debate before the cameras, but as she had before, she turned them away, saying repeatedly that she would not issue licenses to any couples, gay or straight.
'Under whose authority?' Mr. Ermold asked.
'Under God’s authority,' Ms. Davis replied."
Pope John Paul II, in his Encyclical Letter Evangelium Vitae, reminded us that, "The passing of unjust laws often raises difficult problems of conscience for morally upright people with regard to the issue of cooperation, Sometimes the choices which have to be made are difficult; they may require the sacrifice of prestigious professional positions or the relinquishing of reasonable hopes of career advancement. ... In order to shed light on this difficult question, it is necessary to recall the general principles concerning cooperation in evil actions. Christians, like all people of good will, are called upon under grave obligation of conscience not to cooperate formally in practices which, even if permitted by civil legislation, are contrary to God's law.' (Evangelium Vitae, No. 74).
The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, in its document entitled Considerations Regarding Proposals to Give Legal Recognition to Unions Between Homosexual Persons, warns that even where homosexual unions have been legalized, "clear and emphatic opposition is a duty." (No. 5). This important document stresses that, "any kind of formal cooperation in the enactment or application of such gravely unjust laws" and even any "material cooperation on the level of their application" must be avoided. "In this area," states the document, "everyone can exercise the right to conscientious objection."
Considerations makes it abundantly clear that, "The Church teaches that respect for homosexual persons cannot lead in any way to approval of homosexual behavior or to considerations of homosexual unions." (No. 11). In other words, there can be no doubt that all Catholics (as well as all those who profess to be Christian) have a moral duty to oppose the homosexual agenda.
I wonder if Pope Francis will raise his voice on this issue. I won't be holding my breath. But Kim Davis, standing with the truth of God's Holy Word, may be heard exclaiming as the Apostles did some 2,000 years ago when the will of mere mortal men came into opposition with the command of the Living God: “We must obey God rather than human beings!" (Acts 5:29).
What a shame that so few clerics appear to have such faith and courage.

Yet another example of the rights of Christian Americans being trounced upon by a hate-filled anti-Christian secularized government.
Their rights are respected and ours are thrown into the trash. And our cowardly priests and pastors say and do nothing.
I was reading the life of Jesus Christ by Anne Catherine Emmerich. Here are a few passages that I think are pertinent:
"Again I saw Adam on the shining hill upon which God had formed the woman from a rib of his side as he lay buried in sleep. He stood alone under the trees lost in gratitude and wonder. I saw Eve near the Tree of Knowledge, as if about to pass it, and with her that same animal more wily and sportive than ever. Eve was charmed with the serpent; she took great delight in it. It ran up the Tree of Knowledge until its head was on a line with hers. Then clinging to the trunk with its hind feet, it moved its head toward hers and told her that, if she would eat of the fruit of that tree, she would no longer be in servitude, she would become free, and understand how the multiplication of the human race was to be effected. Adam and Eve had already received the command to increase and multiply, but I understood that they did not know as yet how God willed it to be brought about. I saw, too, that had they known it and yet sinned after that knowledge, Redemption would not have been possible. Eve now became more thoughtful. She appeared to be moved by desire for what the serpent had promised. Something degrading took possession of her. It made me feel anxious. She glanced toward Adam, who was still quietly standing under the trees. She called him, and he came."
"Sin was not completed by eating the forbidden fruit. But that fruit from the tree which, rooting its branches in the earth thus sent out new shoots, and which continued to do the same after the Fall, conveyed the idea of a more absolute propagation, a sensual implanting in self at the cost of separation from God. So, along with disobedience, there sprang from their indulgence that severing of the creature from God, that planting in self and through self, and those selfish passions in human nature. He that uses the fruit solely for the enjoyment it affords, must accept as the consequence of his act the subversion, the debasement of nature as well as sin and death."
Doesn't this sound like the purpose of sex is related to the original sin? Contraception? Turns sex fruitless. Sodomy? Perverts the meaning of sex. Childless marriages? Contradicts the purpose of marriage. Divorce and remarriage? Makes marriage more about the parents' desires then about the children, which are the fruit of sex. Furthermore the demons are always tempting humans to impurity as seen in false religions and satanism.
David Ermold, like most homosexual bigots, wants us to recognize a lower authority which doesn't recognize a higher authority - God.
Why should we recognize the authority of a judge who doesn't recognize God's authority?
Maybe Christians should demand this judge step down.
Christianophobic bigot John Hosty, the same hateful individual who has slandered me and who attempted to paint Pope Benedict as a predator, left another comment at this Blog. But he has already been told that until he apologizes for his calumny, his comments will not be published here.
I remember that sick activist. Here is his demonic post:

I saw the video on the news where the homosexual shrieks that the court or government has authority, etc.. over her, when the fact is, the US constitution's 1st amendment grants this woman the right to live her life according to her religious beliefs, and that the government does not have the right to deny her that right. Of course the left want those rights ignored. When it comes to Christians, yet every time a muslim sues an employer because they have taken a job where they claim they need an exemption from performing duties they are granted it. Like the muslim woman who took a job with a western airline, and then demanded she not have to serve alcoholic drinks. The left are ok with her religious beliefs, they only target Christians.
Right Mary. The left and the media which they own want to stamp out Christianity and remove it from the public square entirely.
This is shameful.
I remember Hosty's blog which was dedicated to bashing the Church while engaging in calumny at every opportunity.
You're right to ban this bigot. He feigned being a Christian at World Youth Day to infiltrate the Church to sow damage.
Wow Ted, thanks for the link but I couldn't read it all the way through. It's DIABOLICAL. Absolutely inspired by Satan himself, no doubt about that! Satan's useful idiots.
