Catholic priest warns against yoga....

The La Salette Missionaries have offered yoga at their "Center for Christian Living." Read here. According to Fr. Jeremy Davies, "yoga puts people at risk from devils and the occult." Why then does the La Salette "Center for Christian Living" offer yoga? Perhaps because some priests and religious care about souls and others do not.

This really reflects very badly on the La Salette Missionaries. Let's pray that they return to fidelity to the teaching of the Church and that they renounce New Age and Occult retreats.

Do they still offer it there? I have never seen anything advertised about it. I saw your post was from a few years ago.

There calendar is here: http://www.lasalette-shrine.org/Calendar.html which does include things like "Pro-Life Rosary."

I have been in Attleboro for the last two months, and I've gone to the shrine regularly. I have had a positive experience there. It's not perfect, but certainly positive.

As you can see from this pdf file:

january_08.pdf the La Salette Missionaries continue to offer what they refer to as "Christian Yoga." On January 11-13, 2008, Judith Medeiros conducted another "Christian Yoga Retreat."

We should be careful to avoid attempts to "baptise" occult and New Age practices by affixing the name Christian to them. Fr. Davies warning as a priest-exorcist is not something we should take lightly.

I am glad that your experience at La Salette Attleboro was a positive one. I really am. My own experience was not so positive. I encountered an attitude of dissent from several La Salette religious while I was there. One asserted that there is "wiggle room" on the subject of women's ordination. In light of Pope John Paul II's definitive teaching to the contrary (Ordinatio Sacerdotalis, No. 4), I find such an attitude gravely disturbing. What do you think?

The La Salette "Center for Christian Living" has also offered a Pax Christi retreat. Pax Christi is a leftist/dissent organization which is closely affiliated with Call to Action - one of the most prominent and well-organized dissent groups in the United States. Call to Action supports women's ordination, abortion, homosexuality and a litany of modernist demands all of which contradict the Magisterial teaching of the Catholic Church.

I'm still shell-shocked and totally dumbfounded over the fact that La Salette Attleboro allowed an ex-nun (now witch) to lead a retreat there in which an "altar to the four directions" was erected.

What, for the love of God, does a witch and former Catholic nun have to offer Catholics who want to deepen their faith? And why a pagan altar at a shrine which is supposed to be Catholic?

I have to tell you, I just cannot get over that. Totally bizarre.
